Daylight: - 8 Th Airforce: 644 planes were send out to the landing area’s 441 Mustangs, 178 Thunderbold’s and 25 Lightning’s .There was now contact with enemy planes, but one Mustang and one Thunderbold did not return to base. - AEAF: 609 planes in total were send out for supplies drops and reinforcements. With troops and supplies :101 Stirling’s, 63 RAF. Dakota’s, and 60 US. Dakota’s. With glider’s 385 US. Dakota’s. Loses were 12 Stirling’s, 2 RAF. Dakota’s and 27 US. Dakota’s. Support by fighter’s was 210 Spitfire’s and 36 RAF. Mustang’s , one Spitfire and one Mustang did not return to base. Patrol flights by 114 Typhoon’s and 190 Spitfire’s over the area’s. 36 Mustang’s and 16 Spitfire’s who were send for the Nijmegen area wer called beck becouse of bad weather conditions. - ADGB: 36 Mustang’s flew anti Flak missions in the Arnhem area and 207 Spitfire’s flew in support of the ground troops. - Luftwaffe: 2 planes were send out to the Arnhem area for bomber attacks but both had to abort their mission caused by bad weather.In the other areas 5 fighter’s were lost. |
