Daylight:

- 8 Th Air forces: 24 Mustang’s and 66 Thunderbolt’s flew sorties in support to the airborne operations. They engaged with enemy planes and 20 were shot down and 2 damaged. Own loses were 4 Thunderbolt’s.

- AEAF: 294 planes were send out to the Airborne area 64 Stirling’s 53 RAF.Dakota’s and 177 US. Dakota’s for para and supplies drops in the Arnhem and Eindhoven area. Near Arnhem in the village of Driel the 1st Polish Para Brigade was dropped in an attempt to support the Para’s at Oosterbeek.

47 Stirling’s, 34 RAF. Dakota’s and 137 US. Dakota’s were successful. 14 Stirling’s, 15 RAF. Dakota’s and 12 US. Dakota’s did not return to base. 114 Spitfire’s and 21 RAF. Mustang’s flew close support, and engaged with enemy fighter’s from which 3 Fw-190 were damaged. The weather conditions were bad with rain and mist. 46 Typhoon’s 88 Spitfire’s 48 Mustang’s and some other RAF. planes flew Patrol flights in the area of Breda, Arnhem and to the German border.

- ADBG: 30 Spitfire’s flew escort to the airborne operations, later that day 84 Spitfire’s and 21 Mustang’s did the same.

- Luftwaffe: For the first time the German fighters were present and attacked the incoming transport planes.10 Fw-190’s attacked the Arnhem area 1 was shot down. 20 German fighter’s were lost in combat actions. In total there were about a 80-100 flight’s from the Luftwaffe over the whole M.G. area.

Night:

- AEAF: 18 RAF. Dakota’s flew with supplies from which 17 were successful.
