Daylight: - 8 Th Air forces: 24 Mustangs and 66 Thunderbolts flew sorties in support to the airborne operations. They engaged with enemy planes and 20 were shot down and 2 damaged. Own loses were 4 Thunderbolts. - AEAF: 294 planes were send out to the Airborne area 64 Stirlings 53 RAF.Dakotas and 177 US. Dakotas for para and supplies drops in the Arnhem and Eindhoven area. Near Arnhem in the village of Driel the 1st Polish Para Brigade was dropped in an attempt to support the Paras at Oosterbeek. 47 Stirlings, 34 RAF. Dakotas and 137 US. Dakotas were successful. 14 Stirlings, 15 RAF. Dakotas and 12 US. Dakotas did not return to base. 114 Spitfires and 21 RAF.
